DR.U born on the initiative of the singer CC (Chris Catena) around the late 90s.
The name, deliberately modified, is inspired by a British television series called Doctor Who, which has as its protagonist a "traveler of time and space" who calls himself simply, the Doctor, with adventure stories ranging from science fiction to gothic tale.
DR.U disband after two years but are reconstituted in 2009.
The singer CC, with the help of Antonio Aronne (drummer, arranger and composer) starts recording old songs reworked and new songs for a solo album that slowly becomes a complex project involving many renowned guests both nationally and internationally; among them is worth to mention Earl Slick (David
Bowie's former guitarist now with the NY Dolls), Maurizio Solieri (Vasco Rossi), Shane Gibson (Korn), Andy and Livio (Bluvertigo), Olly (Shandon, The Fire, Rezophonic) Giacomo Castellano (Gianna Nannini, Raf, Vasco Rossi, Naomi), Andrea Viti (Afterhours), Uriah Duffy (Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Whitesnake), Tina Guo (Foo Fighters, Santana, featuring cellist in Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour with Cirque du Soleil), Tony Franklin (Whitesnake, The Firm, Jimmy Page, Roy Harper, Vasco Rossi), Martyn LeNoble (The Cult, Porno for Pyros, Jane's Addiction), Victor Indrizzo (Queens of the Stone Age, Depeche Mode , Dave Gahan, Scott Weiland, etc) and many others. Even Lisbeth Scott, lead singer of many soundtracks for films (such as Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Narnia, Inception, Shreck, True Blood, Passion of the Christ, Transformers) agrees to take part in this project.
In 2010, bassist Marco Fiormonti joins C.C. and Antonio Aronne becoming the third permanent member of the band.
After several selections and auditioning, DR.U welcome in their ranks Mirko Turchetta and Pasquale Ruocco, both on guitars.
The production of "Aliens Alienati", album title, is entrusted to the twice Grammy Award nominated Joe Marlett, who has previously worked with Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Blink 182, Destiny's Child, Seal and others; Marlett gives the sound of the album that 'power and energy typical of the most recent american productions.
